It was a little delayed in coming, but after some prodding from the group, the SCPG is happy to both announce the winnenrs of our member shots that were submitted to the Coastal Carolina Fair recently. Manoj Menon was by far the most extensive winner as he came away with a 2nd place prize, a 3rd place prize, and not 1 but 2 honorable mentions. Dave also came away with an honorable mention. Thanks to all that took part (we had a grand total of 25 submissions from our little club), and we look forward to even more shots and participants next year! Well, October was spent prepping for a trip to the northwest corner of South Carolina. We spent about 3 months planning logistics for a group of us to head up to Oconee State Park and camp up there for a few days while hiking the various falls. Rain on the Friday before, prevented any Friday hiking, but Saturday and Sunday were glorious. After some aimless meandering around at first, we got on track and were able to get three falls in before dusk settled on the horizon and we made our way back to the base camp at the Oconee barracks (hardly roughing it as the non-photog spouses of the group stayed behind to watch college football!).

After a little down time and some R&R at work, we are ready to gear up for another outing. Not nearly as grandiose as the Waterfalls trips though…we are heading back downtown along Market and Broad Streets. We also will have a theme for this shoot - “Candids”. The week following the shoot we also will be having a workshop to go over some of the shots from the previous Saturday. If you’d like to attend either, feel free to join us. The start time is typically 7am, and we gather at the East bay Coffee Shop before heading out en masse. Saturday the 11th is the shoot, and Saturday the 18th is the workshop. Bring your camera and bring a friend!
