Library Gallery

At last!

The club first started talking about putting together some kind of show back in the waning months of 2006. We thought it might be a good idea to perhaps get a local library or some other charitable facility to assist us with giving some of the talented club members an opportunity to present their work. At the same time, the shots would be kind of a community contribution for a wider audience to see. And finally, it would also help to spread the word about the club. With several months of legwork, and many learning experiences along the way, we finally found ourselves in the Summerville library on Saturday, hanging all the contributed member shots on the walls for the world to see (at least our little corner of it). Already, there is talk amongst the group of going even bigger next year, perhaps Flowertown! With the 2007 Annual Gallery finally up and for the most part, complete, we would like to thank the library for graciously offering up their space for us to display member photographs. Here’s a sampling of some of the shots as we prepped the final stages:

Friday Follies

Just a reminder that the SCPG Library Gallery begins tomorrow morning.  We’ll be there bright and early to get everything up, and the display will be ready for all hopefully in short order.  Come on out to help hang, view the display, or talk with the various members who will be on hand.  Lots of fun.

One week from tomorrow is the Cypress Gardens shoot - our scheduled shoot for May.

We’ve seen some recent additions to the club, and the forums are becoming quite busy as people get out to enjoy the weather and share their thoughts and shots with everyone.  Stop in to see some of the latest views, courtesy of newcomers and veterans alike.  Here’s a sampling of some recent posts:

Monday Morning Announcements

Library Announcement

The  First Annual SCPG Gallery will begin this Saturday at the Summerville Public Library.  When the library opens, we’ll be going in to hang all the photos members have contributed for public viewing.  Everything should be finished by noon.  Any and all are welcome to stop in the library to see the handiwork.  Without meaning to sound like a braggart - some of the works that I saw as we assemled the montage last Saturday really made me feel honored to be a part of this group.  For directions to the library and their full hours of operation, click here.  We would also like to take this opportunity to again thank the library administration for generously donating their space to us.

May Shoot Location

The shoot location for May has been announced in the forums.  Look to meet up with the SC photogs group at Cypress Gardens.  Start time will be when the gates open at Cypress (9am - we love that morning light).  Admission rates are $10 for adults and $6 for kids aged 6-12.  For directions and more info, click here.  Lots to see at Cypress, so bring your camera, and bring a friend!    Here’s some info from their site directly on what to expect for this time of year:

What’s blooming

June also looks to be tentatively scheduled for a trip to the Columbia zoo.  Stop in the forums to find out the latest details on developing plans.  If you have a suggestion, or would like us to visit your neck of the low country, register (free, as always) and share your thoughts and shots with the group.  Hope to see you out there.  As always, Happy Shooting!
